Remember that fireplace accessories should be chosen wisely to create nice look of your living room and avoid any safety issues at the same time. It is very important to select the right accessories for fireplace which will help you enjoy a cozy atmosphere in your room.

Safety Tips

  • Keep your children away from the fireplace and don’t let them play with firewood.
  • Don’t leave candles unattended when they are lit because it is a source of fire hazard.
  • Always use heat resistant mats to place hot ashes or coals on them, never put these elements directly onto flooring.
  • If you use candles, make sure that there are no curtains or other inflammable objects nearby because the hot wax can easily cause a fire if it touches something like this.
  • Always extinguish candles before going to sleep or leaving the house.
  • It is necessary always to have a fire extinguisher nearby in case of any emergencies.
  • Never use aerosols near open flames, it can result in an explosion and harm you as well as your family members, so be very careful when using them.
  • Use matches to light candles. Be careful with them because you can burn your fingers if the match is still burning when it falls onto flooring or other inflammable surface, so always use a box of matches that has an attached lid on top.
  • Keep firewood in dry place and cover it up to protect from moisture which can make it rot and become useless.
  • If you use firewood, keep your family members as well as pets away from this element because burning coals can easily burn their skin.
  • Keep a bucket of water near fireplace at all times to extinguish any small fires that may come into being when using coal or wood for heating purposes.
  • Never use gasoline or any other flammable liquids to start a fire because it is dangerous and can cause an explosion.
  • As you see, using fireplace accessories requires some safety tips that will help you avoid any possible accidents in your household.
